One question we get asked a lot: just how many prints can you actually get out of the free set of starter inks that comes in the box with a new printer? Most people assume it’s enough for a handful of test prints and not much else. The real answer tends to be a pleasant surprise.
Take the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-2600. Based on the ink volume needed to print an industry-standard test image, the starter inks bundled in the box could be enough for close to 200 x A1 glossy photo prints in Standard mode. That’s not a typo — it’s nearly 200 full A1 prints before you’d need to buy a single replacement cartridge.
It’s easy to compare printers on unit price alone, but what actually comes in the box matters just as much. A printer that ships with generous full-size starter inks is effectively handing you hundreds of pounds of running costs upfront — value you won’t see on the spec sheet or the price tag. When you’re comparing models, it’s always worth asking what ink is actually included, not just what the printer costs to buy.
