The iPF6400S produces high-quality, high-speed, 24” prints for low cost combined with flexible functionality. Think of the iPF6400S as the iPF6300S plus Hot Swap ink tanks, a larger built-in HDD (250GB vs.160GB), inbuilt colour calibration, calibration link feature and an optional spectrophotometer. The iPF6400S 24”/A1 features Canon’s unique LUCIA EX 8-colour pigment ink system and improved image processing technology delivering superb print quality, excellent reliability, exceptional versatility and added productivity. The imagePROGRAF iPF6400S delivers a wider colour gamut, smoother gradation, deeper dark tones and sharper blacks as seen with the previous imagePROGRAF printers (iPF6300, IPF6350 and iPF8300) and features higher print speed and broad workflow compatibility as well as lowering the total cost of ownership. A wider colour gamut enables the iPF6400S to be used in applications that require greater precision, and a colour profile designed for poster production adds to its versatility. Improved scratch resistance and reduced bronzing combined with higher print registration accuracy for precise text and fine lines means superb quality. Canon’s unique built-in colour sensor measures colour density to ensures consistent and accurate colour reproduction.

Producing 2400 x 1200 dpi resolution, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6400S prints A1 gloss in as little as 2.1 minutes. Productivity is improved through a new mirrored nozzle layout and the option to print in Fast mode, which enables the print speed to be as much as doubled, while still maintaining a level of print quality that rivals that in standard mode. When turn around is time critical, for posters and point-of-sale (POS) items, this feature is a major advantage. The iPF6400S also features Proof, Image and Economy modes, enabling the user to decide what level of image quality is needed when printing. Proof mode produces sharper text and lines, making it ideal for high precision proof printing, while Image mode enables high-precision printing of text and lines without a reduction in speed, making it a good choice when placement accuracy is less important than speed. Economy mode reduces ink consumption by almost 50%, making it convenient for producing posters for internal use or checking layouts during test printing.

The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6400S incorporates a number of new productivity tools including Hot Swap ink tanks which enable uninterrupted printing for greater productivity and reduced downtime. Available in both 130ml and 300ml sizes, Hot Swap ink tanks feature a sub-ink tank which allows for non-stop printing, even during ink tank replacement. An automated email alert lets you know when it’s time to change ink tanks, replace media or notifies you when a job has finished, making this printer ideal for the production environments by supporting continued productivity where it counts most.

The IPF6400S features a built-in 250GB hard disk for more efficient printing of complex jobs, making it easier to handle larger amounts of data, store larger print jobs, and reprint them easily without resending from a PC. Gigabit Ethernet connectivity allows data to be transferred fast – even when managing high print volumes or data heavy files. Fast Economy Mode printing saves time and ink for those cost sensitive jobs.

The new optional spectrophotometer supports automated, high precision colour management with third-party RIP solutions. The spectrophotometer provides rapid colour control measurement and schedulable colour checking, which allows for convenient and stringent quality across all jobs. The spectrophotometer has a switchable UV filter. For optimal colour consistency between multiple 8-colour printers, use the Calibration Link feature. Calibration Link allows the spectrophotometer to provide a unified solution to all 8-colour imagePROGRAF large format printers. Needing to be only installed on the iPF6400S at one location, users can centrally control the colour management of multiple 8-colour imagePROGRAF units installed in other sites, optimising output and ensuring uniformity of colour.

The Colour Calibration Management Console (CCMC) software provides highly efficient colour management for an individual device or even a fleet of printers. Compatible ICC profiles of popular media types from Hahnemuehle, Ilford and Sihl can be downloaded. Paper settings can be added and adjustments can be made to enhance the precision quality of your output with third party media.

SPECIFICATIONS

The iPF6400S is tailored to suit any expertise level. In addition to the easy access to sophisticated functions on the LCD panel, you can also keep track of your printing costs with Canon’s built-in cost management software, allowing you to calculate print costs and track ROI. The accounting functionality calculates pages printed and the associated costs, enabling the monitoring of printing costs while also helping understand and manage paper use.

Simple roll paper loading and easy to change ink tanks make the PF6400S user friendly. Borderless printing means no need for offline trimming, saving time and money and Automatic Skew Correction allows for unattended printing by automatically adjusting for any skew in orientation and fees the paper/media correctly. A thoughtfully designed fan system ensures the quietest of operation.

In addition to the easy access to sophisticated functions on the LCD panel, there are a choice of printer drivers including, Print Plug-Ins for MS Office, Photoshop and Digital Photo Professional and a driver optimised for AutoCAD. Bundled with PosterArtist Lite, poster creation software makes it easy to produce professional looking posters.

Direct Print & Share software is now available, streamlining print workflows by simplifying the printing process and offering cloud-based sharing. Direct Print & Share prints files directly without starting an application or accessing the printer driver. It enhances productivity through co-ordinated processing of multiple files and enables batch printing of JPEG, tiff and PDF files.

For designers and photographers, the imagePROGRAF iPF6400S is compatible with a broad range of RIPs, enabling easy integration of the iPF6400S into existing workflows. The Canon Print Plug-Ins for Adobe Photoshop and Digital Photo Professional make printing high-precision images easy. Photoshop and Digital Photo Professional are 64-bit compatible and the Photoshop Plug-In has been enhanced to include CMYK, as well as RGB. The imagePROGRAF Printer Driver includes an Easy mode which uses Canon’s pre-defined settings for speed and simplicity of use. Switch to Advanced mode and adjustments can be made for customising drying times, colour settings and managing ICC profiles. Page set-up allows customised page sizes if required and best-fit option for each media is selectable. Select the watermark feature to protect the rights of your images. For enhanced workflow, pre-defined settings can be created using hot folders. A maintenance facility allows you to adjust media feed, do a nozzle check, clean the print heads, check the queue and carry out other time saving features.

A host of features make the iPF6400S easy to work with, even without extensive training, making it ideal for non-print businesses looking at bringing the printing of posters and display material in-house. The printer driver can be tailored to suit the user’s level of expertise and control of the print can be done from the large, bright LCD operation panel on the front of the printer. Together with the help of Canon’s Print Plug-In for Microsoft Office and PosterArtist Lite software, which is bundled with the IPF6400S, even users unfamiliar with design can create professional-looking posters, display items, presentation charts and other large format documents. MANUFACTURER INFORMATION

Canon ImagePROGRAF wide format printers use a number of advanced Canon proprietary technologies. FINE™ (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print-head technology and dual print head design, features a total of 30,720 nozzles into just two 1” high density print heads. Bi-directional printing design of the ImagePROGAF printers means print times are significantly faster than conventional print systems which require multiple passes for each line to compensate for uneven droplet size and placement on the paper. An innovative ink-nozzle manufacturing method results in precisely uniform 4 picoliter droplets resulting in 2400 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi) resolution and outstanding photo-quality print performance.

Canon’s unique LUCIA EX pigment ink systems incorporate 8 colours and superfine 4-pl (picoliter) ink droplets ensures a wide colour gamut, smooth gradation, reduced graininess and reduced bronzing. LUCIA EX ink systems increases the colour gamut by around 20% and have an innovative polymer structure that results in exceptional scratch resistance and protection from colour fading, while reducing bronzing to ensure durable, stable output. Specific technology controls ink placement according to the ink’s characteristics resulting in superb contrasts and detailed graduation in dark areas. The LUCIA EX ink system also delivers higher print registration accuracy for precise text and fine lines, which allows the iPF6400S to function as a precise proofing device.

Canon’s advanced L-COA (Large Format printer Common Architecture) image processor delivers faster high-quality output and print optimization. L-COA helps your printer carry out the most complex print jobs – where files can often exceed 200MB – with ease.
