Just put the media roll on the feeder, and the GP-2000 loads it automatically, sensing the type and size of the paper and eliminating the chance of a stray fingerprint spoiling the job. The smart paper roll automatically performs paper supply and feeding, detects paper type and width, estimates remaining amount of paper, and adjusts the condition to enable printing simply by placing roll paper in the feed section of the printer. The automation of these high-workload paper supply tasks reduces the workload on the operator, eliminates the need to manually insert the paper into the paper feed slot, and eliminates the need to touch the media surface during paper supply, which prevents adherence of fingerprints and dirt.  The imagePROGRAF GP-2000 media handling features front-loading and front output for roll and cut sheet media and can accept a width of 152.4 –610 mm and thickness of 0.07 – 0.8 mm.  The maximum printable length for roll paper is 18 meters, and 2133.6 mm (with stand) for cut sheet.  The minimum printable length for roll paper is 101.6 mm and for cut sheet is 203.2 mm, and the maximum media roll diameter is 170mm. Manual feed is possible, using a media locking lever.

The optional Multifunction Roll System for the Canon imagePROGRAF PG-2000 is ideal for high-volume continuous printing.  The Multifunction Roll System provides a second roll feed and/or rewinding printouts on a roll(media take-up unit).  For dual roll support, the optional  Lower Roll Paper is available, with front-loading and front output, which supports continuous paper feeding and auto-switching, or automatic take-up of printer output.  The optional Media Take-up roll unit includes a dual direction roll take up unit allowing the print surface to be wound inside or outside of the roll. Two rolls of the same media type can be used, or two different sizes and types of roll paper can be used with switching during printing.  The lower unit can be used as a take-up unit for the output form the upper unit.

MANUFACTURER INFORMATION

Canon imagePROGRAF GP Series printers (11 colour: GP-2000 and GP-4000 and 5-colour  GP-200 and GP-400) use a number of advanced Canon proprietary technologies.  The Canon imagePROGRAF GP Series features “Radiant Infusion” technology, which layers newly developed fluorescent pink ink with other inks on the paper surface during printing, enabling bright and soft colour reproduction. FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print-head technology and dual print head design features a total of 18,432 nozzles (MBK, PBK, C, M, Y, GY, R, O, G, V, FP x 1536 nozzles each)  into a 1.28” high density print head. Bi-directional printing design of the imagePROGAF printers means print times are significantly faster than conventional print systems which require multiple passes for each line to compensate for uneven droplet size and placement on the paper.  An innovative ink-nozzle manufacturing method results in precisely uniform minimum 4 picolitre droplets resulting in 2400 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi) resolution.

Canon’s innovative LUCIA PRO 11 pigment ink system incorporates 11 colours and superfine 4-pl (picoliter) ink droplets, ensuring a super wide colour gamut, smooth gradation, reduced graininess and reduced bronzing.  Canon’s LUCIA PRO ink system delivers exceptionally accurate colours via the FINE print head with a tubular ink delivery system that results in faster printer speeds and enables stable, high quality printing.  LUCIA Pro includes Photo Black, Matte Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Grey, along with the newly formulated Red, Orange, Violet and Fluorescent Pink.  Photo Black ink and Matte Black have their own channels, so no ink swap is needed when changing papers, increasing efficiency and improving resistance to clogging nozzles for consistent results. LUCIA PRO ink systems have an innovative polymer structure that result in exceptional scratch resistance and protection from colour fading, while reducing bronzing to ensure durable, stable output for over 100 years.

The LUCIA PRO 5 colour models (GP-200 and GP-400) produce vivid colour expression with low ink consumption on glossy paper by microencapsulated colour materials.  5 colour models arrange the key colours of cyan, magenta, yellow, matte black, black and fluorescent pink in a mirrored layout on the print head.   Posters with high colour density can be created with fewer print passes at faster print speeds.

Canon’s new processing engine and printer architecture deliver further accuracy to ink ejection and limitation of colour unevenness.  The new L-COA (Large Format printer Common Architecture) PRO image processing technology instantly determines optimal droplet combinations to deliver best results that are faithful to the original image.  L-COA PRO delivers faster, high-quality output and print optimization by carefully calculating best results for each print mode and media using various factors including colour reproduction, tonal gradations, black density, graininess, glossiness, anti-bronzing and elimination of metamerism, all of which contribute to creating an amazing printed image.  L-COA PRO is combined with 3GB of standard memory  (2 GB for GP-200 and GP-300) and a 500 GB encrypted hard disk, which enables high –speed processing of massive volumes of image data for demanding workflows.  Additionally, the new two-way vacuum paper feeder keeps media flat and even, assisting with accuracy of ink ejection.

Canon’s Advanced Colour Calibration is a powerful built-in colour calibration system ensuring the most stable colour reproduction attainable, preventing variability of colour output by aging changes or printer differences.  In conventional systems, changing print heads may cause a minute variation in print output, due to the density characteristics of the print head.  With Canon’s Advanced Colour Calibration, a multi-sensor measures variations in density on a printed calibration chart and then automatically applies any appropriate adjustments to ensure an exact match for long–term consistency.
