New Canvas technical details from Design Supply for Canon iPF large format printers

Canvas is supplied in roll form and is available in widths of 17” 24” 36” 44” 54” & 60” rolls. The inkjet canvas is 100% cotton and identical to a traditional artist canvas used by creative artists. The iPF5000, W6400P, iPF6100, iPF8000 & iPF9000 with their archival Lucia pigmented inks will produce a print on these products with a life span in excess of 100+ years onto archival media (subject to display conditions).

Once the canvas has been printed, an extra finish can be applied in the form of a varnish. The varnish acts as a protective layer to the print, increases the archival life and gives a unique finish to the product. The varnish can be applied either by roller, sponge or brush. Each application will produce a different textured finish to the canvas. The roller produces a smooth natural finish allowing the texture of the canvas to show through, whilst the sponge will produce a rustic textured finish. The brush will create paint strokes, which mimic the artists original brush strokes.

Once you have completed the first two stages, you are now ready for stretching. By using the Dried Stretcher Bars, you will get a long lasting rigid product. Made of dried wood, the stretcher bars are less prone to natural expansion and contraction that can be sometimes found in other stretcher bars. The wedges supplied with the bars helps the stretching process, allowing you to get the last small percentage of stretch from the stretcher bars to create a rigid framed piece of artwork.

Canon launches 12-colour, 24-inch large-format printer for the photography, fine art and graphic arts sectors

The NEW 24” imagePROGRAF iPF6100 large-format printer (LFP), which is aimed primarily at the photography, fine art and graphic arts markets.

Boasting industry-leading technologies, the imagePROGRAF iPF6100, is designed to deliver high quality output at high speed. The 12-colour LUCIA ink system includes additional red, green and blue colours to give an exceptionally wide colour gamut, which is well-balanced with clear, vibrant colours and smooth gradation making it suited to high quality printing – essential for the photography and fine art sectors. The machine also incorporates four new ‘monochrome’ inks: black, matte black, grey and photo grey, to further enhance the quality of prints, which are more durable and scratch resistant. The inks reduce the ‘bronzing’ effect that can sometimes occur in certain light conditions.

The imagePROGRAF iPF6100 has two high-density print heads that can
deliver an outstanding print resolution of 2,400 x 1,200dpi.

The imagePROGRAF iPF6100 has a new colour calibration tool that adjusts colour
differences caused by ageing print heads, or slight variances between different printers, for
more stable colour reproduction. This means that there’s no need for external colour
calibration devices, saving time and money. The in-built tool, which is easy to use,
performs an accurate adjustment in approximately 10 minutes and once calibrated all
media types are set.

The accuracy of the imagePROGRAF 6100 is enhanced by Canon’s new colour calibration
tool. Where customers run a number of machines side-by-side or with similar content, the
colour differences between machines can be easily corrected. Colour accuracy and
consistency is essential to the photography and fine arts markets and the imagePROGRAF
iPF6100 delivers just this, print after print

The imagePROGRAF iPF6100 comes with a range of features to ensure that set up and
operation are as simple as possible. These include image input and selection with the
imagePROGRAF Image Viewer and an Adobe Photoshop plug-in. Canon’s new high
quality poster creating software, PosterArtist 2007, is also available as an option.

The new HP Designjet T Printer series, which includes the HP Designjet T610 and T1100 Printer series

Last June Alistair Wright and Ian Stapleton attended the launch in Rome of the latest range of HP Designjets which included the new Designjet T610 and the Designjet T1100.
We have been waiting for HP to respond to the Canon imagePROGRAF range and at last HP have something to shout about!

The new HP Designjet T Printer series, which includes the HP Designjet T610 and T1100 Printer series, set a new standard of print quality with its three-black ink set, including grey ink, and HP Vivera inks, delivering exacting detail, a wider range of colours and hard-to-achieve tone reproduction. The HP Designjet T Printer series builds upon the proven reliability of HP large-format printers by adding enhanced compatibility and dependability delivered by HP-GL/2 and in-printer processing architecture. These printers can print an A1/D page in 35 seconds enabling project print speeds up to three times faster than the previous printer, the HP Designjet 800 series.

This new range from HP is perfect for CAD, AEC, GIS professionals.

Available in 610 mm and 1118 mm models, the HP Designjet T Printer series features the three-black ink set which produces true neutral greys, enabling enhanced detail and hard-to-achieve tones. HP Vivera inks produce images with even, subtle contrast from vivid colour to soft tones. And with HP’s innovative print head design, the printing system produces pinpoint line accuracy and crisp text with improved line accuracy at 0.1 % and 0.0423 mm minimum line width, allowing CAD and GIS professionals to produce standout drawings and presentations with better readability.

In addition, the HP Designjet T Printer series offers remarkable compatibility with CAD and GIS applications thanks to embedded industry standard HP-GL/2 language. HP has partnered with key companies to ensure HP Designjet T Printer series users have connectivity and software compatibility with the industry’s major CAD and GIS applications needed to produce high-quality prints. The HP Designjet T Printer series' in-printer processing architecture enables quick, efficient processing of files in the printer – no matter what the complexity – without tying up workstation or requiring powerful networks and computer devices.

The HP Designjet T1100 Printer series, including the HP Designjet T1100, T1100ps and T1100MFP, is ideal for CAD and GIS work groups who need to efficiently share a printer among multiple users in a network environment. The HP Designjet T1100ps is uniquely designed for applications with PDF and PostScript workflows. The HP Designjet T1100MFP brings together features of the HP Designjet T1100ps 1118 mm printer and complete scan and copy functionality in high resolutions delivering precise and detailed scans and output.

Ideal for the CAD and GIS professionals who require convenient printing in-house, the HP Designjet T610 is perfect for personal use in smaller offices and studio environments.

As can be seen from these exciting additions to large format market place, there are many models and product lines to choose from and the T series represents a small part of the huge overall range that is offered by Design Supply Ltd.
