INTRODUCTION

The 17'' A2+ Stylus Pro 3880 is a direct replacements for the existing Stylus Pro 3800, the main differences being:

• New ink formulation for Vivid Magenta & Vivid Light Magenta
• New printer driver LUT (Look Up Table) technology

The introduction of the Stylus Pro 3880 completes the Stylus Pro 8 colour range of large format printers, SP-3880/4880/7880/9880/11880, incorporating the UltraChrome K3 Vivid Magenta inkset.

ULTRACHROME K3 VIVID MAGENTA INK
The current Magenta/Light Magenta ink formulation has been changed to Vivid Magenta/Vivid Light Magenta, the benefits are:
 

• Increased colour gamut, specifically in the blues & magentas enabling the reproduction of specific spot colours such as Rhodamine Red & Reflex Blue. Increases Pantone coverage to approx 85%.
• Provides a competitive colour gamut compared to printers incorporating 12 colours
• Improved short term colour stability, Delta E<1 in approx 30mins
• Virtually eliminates metamerism
• 8 inks provides a simpler colour management solution, compared to 12

To facilitate the accuracy of ink control with the new ink, the printhead has been modified, and therefore, Vivid Magenta/Vivid Light Magenta ink CANNOT be used in the Stylus Pro 3800

All printers incorporating this new ink will have the UltraChrome K3 Vivid Magenta logo:

NEW LUT TECHNOLOGY
Using the same technology as the SP-7900/9900, image processing in the driver has been improved providing the following benefits:

• Improve grain reduction
• Smoother halftone generation
• Consistent print quality across varying resolutions
• Improved cross printer colour accuracy
