Reliability

Many Users report years of trouble-free usage. Life spans of over a decade are common with regular consumable replacement. No other manufacturer has the confidence to offer a 3 year warranty.

OPOS

Optical Positioning System is made possible by scanning registration marks on printed images. Then, the cutters own

internal programming repositions the plot data to adjust position and rotation. Additional on-board intelligence

compensates for scale variations between printer and cutter by dynamically rescaling the plot data. The end result is

a highly automated and accurate means of contour-cutting printed vinyl graphic.

OPOS has the unique capability to read multiple markers along a job. This way it can scan large jobs without loosing accuracy. The outline below clearly shows the difference between OPOS and other alignment systems. The bottom row indicates how OPOS handles contour jobs. The top row is typical 4-point alignment. The first column shows the job like it appears on the computer screen. The second column shows a typical distortion while the third column shows how the alignment method handles the distortion. This outline clearly shows that 4-point alignment systems generate obvious inaccuracy of the contour. Depending on the job size or the required accuracy, OPOS can scan 4 to 128 markers!

Many prints are now laminated to increase durability. This is a real nightmare for most optical sensors used for automated contour alignment. However this is not an issue for Summa's new OPOS X sensor, which is very sensitive and operates in a wide spectrum of light. The Summa S even detects markers through heavy floor graphics laminate with uneven texture.

The new OPOS X also deals with white reflective, holographic and mirror materials without any problems.

Roll-Up System

With the S-class 140 and 160, Summa can also supply take-up roller and media rack. The take-up allows the user to run long jobs, which are automatically rewound after the cut process.

Media racks are also available. These are stacked on the back of the cutter where extra vinyl rolls can be stored.

Wide range of knives

Summa offers two kinds of drag-knives:

Standard 36 knife optimised to do common vinyl cutting knife

55 knife for thicker materials

A drag-knife cutter can cut media up to 0.25 mm with a standard blade, while using a sandblast knife you will be able to cut media up to 0.8 mm.

Summa offers three kinds of tangential-knives:

'' Standard 36 knife optimised to do common vinyl cutting knife

'' 60 knife for thicker materials (see drag-knife for more info)

'' Double tip 36 knife

A tangential cutter can cut media up to 0.25 mm with a standard blade (or double tip knife), while using a sandblast knife you will be able to cut media up to 1.2 mm.
