Key features of the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF510
The iPF510 17”/A2 large format printer features Canon’s unique 5-colour dye/pigment reactive ink system designed specifically for CAD & GIS applications. This unique formulation improves ink adhesion to the media and minimises colour bleeding. This means clearer text, smoother curves, and sharp fine lines even on uncoated technical papers. Using reactive inks also improves scratch and marker resistance so prints are far more durable than those printed with conventional dye inks.
The iPF510 produces 2400 x 1200 dpi resolution and offers high speed (Fast mode) printing producing A2 prints in just 20 seconds. Designed to provide the quality line rendering and productivity needed for the specialist CAD usage, the iPF510 offers full support for specialist CAD file formats including HP-GL/2, HP-RTL and an HDI driver for CAD applications, enabling seamless integration with the way you work. In collaboration with Autodesk, Canon has developed an optimised printer driver to further improve productivity for customers using AutoCAD applications. By adjusting the resolution and the memory utilised, the optimised iPF driver ensures that print jobs are processed efficiently with superb accuracy every time.
Canon recognise that many users in the CAD & GIS markets are not printing professionals and have incorporated many features to make the iPF510 easy to use and to deliver the best results with minimum effort. A compact, slim-line design with a front-loading paper system and a front access ink tank system means you can change paper and ink easily even when printer is installed in a tight space or against a wall. Borderless printing technology keep you more productive as there is no need for offline trimming and Auto Skew Correction enables unattended printing by automatically adjusting for any skew in orientation and feeds the paper/media correctly. The iPF510 incorporates maximum flexibility with four media paths, a roll, cassette (for A4, 250 sheets; A3, 100 sheets; A2, 50 sheets) and two manual feeds. A high durability cutter is included, bringing a professional finish to all your work.
Additional information and specifications
A large, bright LCD operation panel gives easy access to sophisticated functions. The printer driver can be tailored to suit any level of expertise and control of the print is from the front of the printer, with simple roll paper and ink tank loading.
Design posters like a pro without any prior experience, thanks to Canon’s PosterArtist Lite software, included with the iPF510. In just four simple steps you can create professional looking posters, banners and signs using a variety of templates, high resolution, royalty-free images and clipart. The iPF510 also includes a Print Plug-In for Microsoft Office – making it easy for you to print from Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
The iPF510 is economical, compact, quiet, and reliable. The imagePROGRAF iPF510 comes with an Economy mode for low cost prints, reducing ink consumption by approximately 50% when compared to conventional draft mode. As you would expect from Canon, reliable performance is a given and added peace of mind, Canon imagePROGRAF printers and print heads feature a 12-month warranty.
There is a complete range of Canon and third party media compatible with the imagePROGRAF iPF510, available from Design Supply’s media specialists whose expertise can help you determine the best solutions for your particular printing needs.

Canon imagePROGRAF CAD & GIS (5-colour) wide format printers use a number of advanced Canon proprietary technologies to achieve fine lines, small text and highly detailed graphics produced with incredible accuracy and sharpness.
FINE™ (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print-head technology for 5-colour imagePROGRAF printers features a total of 15,360 nozzles into a 1” high density print head. Bi-directional printing design of the imagePROGRAF printers means print times are significantly faster than conventional print systems which require multiple passes for each line to compensate for uneven droplet size and placement on the paper. An innovative ink-nozzle manufacturing method results in precisely uniform 4 picoliter droplets resulting in 2400 x 1200 dpi (dots per inch) and outstanding print performance.
Canon’s CAD and GIS (5-colour) range of imagePROGRAF printers feature a 5-colour dye/pigment reactive ink system designed specifically for CAD and GIS applications. This unique formulation improves ink adhesion to the media and minimises colour bleeding. When black ink intersects with coloured ink (for example, words printed on a colour background) the black and cyan inks induce a chemical reaction that prevents black from bleeding into the colours. This means clearer text, smoother curves, and sharp fine lines even on uncoated technical papers. Using reactive inks also improves scratch and marker resistance so prints are far more durable than those printed with conventional dye inks.
The CAD & GIS (5-colour) range of imagePROGRAF printers utilise two types of black ink for the best possible results on all types of media. For photo-type a black ink (BK) is used and for high contrast prints on matte paper, a matte black (MBK) is used. This process ensures smooth graduations across every media type and is highly efficient as the relevant ink is automatically selected for each media type.
Canon’s advanced L-COA (Large Format printer Common Architecture) image processor delivers faster high-quality output and print optimization. L-COA helps your printer carry out the most complex print jobs – where files can often exceed 200MB – with ease.
